This new nonfiction strand presents two perspectives on one important historical event to create a deeper understanding.

Flip Perspectives introduces a topic from one perspective, then delves into the topic from another perspective to solidify comprehension, teach critical thinking skills, and improve confidence for grade-level textbooks.

The Flip Perspectives strand:

• Builds knowledge of high-value topics and concepts in U.S. history and examines it from two different, equally weighted perspectives.
• Applies a multi-dimensional approach to encourage deeper-level thinking and understanding of curriculum topics.
• Incorporates nonfiction text features including table of contents, timelines, glossaries, quotes, maps, illustrations, historical photographs, case studies, biographies, and more.
